The School of Architecture at Université Laval is seeking a visionary leader to direct one of Canada’s most dynamic architecture schools. YOUR MISSION
As Director, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Lead a prestigious architecture school to greater heights of academic excellence
  • Develop innovative pedagogical approaches in the field of architecture
  • Foster research and research-creation within a dynamic academic community
  • Strengthen the School’s national and international outreach
  • Establish ties between academia and the professional community

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Academic Leadership

  • Lead the strategic development of the School of Architecture
  • Oversee and enhance academic programs, including accreditation processes
  • Encourage pedagogical innovation and teaching excellence
  • Promote research and research-creation

Administrative Management

  • Manage the School’s human and financial resources
  • Coordinate teaching assignments
  • Ensure compliance with collective agreements
  • Oversee material resources with the support of an administrative coordinator
  • Outreach and Partnerships
  • Act as the School’s ambassador within the university and to external organizations.
  • Develop partnerships with the professional community and other institutions
  • Plan and execute enriching events (lectures, exhibitions, competitions)
  • Promote the success and visibility of students and faculty

Selection criterias

Proficiency in the French language is an essential criterion for this position 
and will be evaluated during the interview.

YOUR PROFILE
Essential Qualifications

  • Hold a professional degree in architecture
  • Hold a university faculty position at the rank of Associate or Full Professor
  • Have significant experience in academic management
  • Showcase collaborative leadership and communication skills
  • Have a good understanding of the architectural practice environment in Québec

Assets

  • Knowledge of the School of Architecture at Université Laval and its programs
  • An understanding of accreditation processes for architecture schools
  • A well-established professional network on a local, national, and international scale
  • A proven track record of innovation in teaching or research
  • A proven ability to secure research funding
